Liberon FAQs
What Liberon products are suitable for antique furniture?
Liberon offers a wide range of products for antique furniture restoration, including traditional furniture waxes, French polishes, wood dyes, fillers, touch-up products and preparation materials. The right product depends on the existing finish and the type of restoration required.
Which Liberon wax is best for furniture?
Liberon Wax Polish Black Bison is one of the most popular choices for nourishing and polishing wooden furniture. It is available in several colours, allowing you to select a shade suitable for the timber and existing finish.
Which Liberon French Polish should I use?
The choice depends on the colour and appearance required. Button Polish provides a warm golden-brown finish, Garnet Polish gives a darker brown appearance, Black Polish is designed for ebonising and Special Pale French Polish is suitable for lighter woods where a clear, natural appearance is preferred.
Can Liberon wood dye be used before waxing?

Does Liberon still offer antiquing fluid tourmaline for Metal?
Liberon antiquing fluid tourmaline was discontinued some time ago but Priory polishes offer their own product that does the exact same thing. Priory polishes antiquing fluid tourmaline comes in a black or brown version, ideal for colouring metals such as Brass, Copper and some Steel (see the product description for the most suitable). For other metals you can try to use Liberon Iron Paste or Verdigris wax depending on the type of finish you are looking for.
What Liberon Products can be used to lighten wood?
Liberon wood bleacher is ideal for this. This wood bleach will not only lighten the timber but also can be used to remove dark stains caused by rust, alcohol, damp or ink. It will only work on bare untreated wood and once you are happy with the results, you need to seal the wood with a suitable finish like a their finishing oil or fine paste wax.
Does Liberon offer a white wax?
Yes, Liberon does offer a white wax that you can use to create a limed wash effect. We have done a full tutorial blog with video here showing you how you can use this white wax to create a stunning limed effect.
Do you supply Liberon Spirit Sanding Sealer
Liberon Sanding Sealer is no longer available but we do have a good alternative. Priory Polishes Shellac Sanding Sealer quickly prepares the surface of bare wood and MDF prior to wax finishing. It will seal the wood so that less wax is needed and its special lubricants will ease sanding.
