Whether you are restoring an older stove, refreshing a tired fireplace or carrying out regular maintenance, choose a product specifically suited to the surface and application.
Stove paint is used to refresh the appearance of suitable stoves, grates, fire backs and other heat-exposed metal surfaces. Our range includes Hotspot Stove and Fireplace Paint in matt black, available as both an aerosol and traditional paint.
Hotspot Stove and Fireplace Paint is formulated as a high-temperature, corrosion-resistant finish and is rated for temperatures up to 650°C when correctly applied and cured. It is suitable for specified applications including wood and multi-fuel stoves, grates, fire backs and fireplaces.
Stove polish and grate polish can be used to restore the appearance of suitable cast iron stoves, grates and surrounds. Hotspot Black Stove and Grate Polish is a matt black, water-based polish that can help cover minor rust spots, scratches and paint chips before being polished to a rich matt black finish.
Always ensure the appliance is cool or at the temperature specified by the manufacturer before applying a stove polish, and test the product on a small area where appropriate.
Stove glass cleaner helps remove smoke stains and deposits from suitable stove glass and fire screens. Hotspot Glass Cleaner is formulated for the glass of wood, coal and oil-burning stoves and is designed to dissolve smoke stains and tar or creosote deposits.
Always allow the glass to cool before cleaning and follow the product instructions carefully.
Fireplace cleaner can be used to remove smoke, soot and tar stains from suitable hard fireplace surfaces. Hotspot Fireplace Cleaner is suitable for specified brick, stone, concrete and marble surfaces and is designed to clean into the pores of the surface.
Always check the product instructions before use, particularly on painted, decorated or previously treated surfaces.
Slate blacking and slate oil can be used to restore and enhance the appearance of suitable slate hearths and fireplace surrounds. Priory Polishes Slate Blacking is intended for restoring and reviving black slate, including slate hearths and fire surrounds.
Hotspot Slate Oil is designed to seal and protect suitable slate while enhancing its natural appearance. It can slightly deepen the colour and is intended to repel dirt and water while allowing the slate to breathe.
Stove rope is used as a sealing material on suitable solid-fuel stoves and boilers. Hotspot Stove Rope is available in different thicknesses and is designed for use with Heatbond Stove Rope Fixative.
The stove rope adhesive helps secure the sealing rope into the appropriate channel. Hotspot Heatbond Stove Rope Fixative is formulated for bonding fibreglass or ceramic sealing rope to suitable solid-fuel stoves and cookers and is heat resistant to 900°C.
Suitable metal polish can be used to clean and enhance certain metal components and decorative surfaces associated with stoves and fireplaces. Hotspot Multi Use Metal Polish is suitable for a range of metals including copper, brass, nickel, pewter, chromium, silver and gold.
Always check that the polish is appropriate for the particular metal and surface before use.
Regular maintenance can help keep a suitable stove or fireplace clean and presentable. Depending on the appliance and its condition, maintenance may include cleaning the glass, refreshing the stove finish, checking the sealing rope and maintaining the surrounding hearth or fireplace surfaces.
When carrying out maintenance, make sure the appliance is completely cool where required and follow the instructions supplied with each individual product.
The right product depends on the part of the stove or fireplace you are working on and the material involved. You may need stove paint, grate polish, stove glass cleaner, fireplace cleaner, slate blacking, slate oil, stove rope or rope adhesive.
Always check the manufacturer’s instructions for compatibility, preparation, application, temperature limits and curing times before using a product on a stove or fireplace.
