What is the most suitable Briwax product for furniture?

The most suitable finish that Briwax offer on furniture would be their Original Natural Wax Polish as this comes in a variety of colours and will enhance the appearance of the wood whist adding a protective layer. This wax polish is used on modern and antique furniture on all woods but works especially well on Pine and Oak. With the large colour choice, you can add a slight tone to your timber and this can also help to cover minor scratches and marks. There is also a clear wax polish option to keep your furniture as natural as possible in tone that is easy to apply and create a beautiful sheen.

Does Briwax offer a wax polish that is Vegan Friendly?

Yes, Briwax is one of the only brands to offer a vegan friendly wax polish. Briwax Natural Wood Wax is free from mineral solvents and synthetic raw materials. This clear wax will create minimal colour change to your timber whilst adding a protective layer that naturally helps to eliminate food odours. It is easy to use, simply apply with a lint free cloth in thin layers and buff to a nice satin sheen.

Does Briwax offer a water-resistant finish?

Most wax finishes will only offer very slight water resistant’s but are not waterproof. If you are looking for a more durable water resistant finish for interior wood , like on a kitchen worktop then you would be far better to use a Hard Wax Oil. Briwax do offer their own Quick Dry Hard Wax Oil in clear but there are also other brands that offer this finish with a tinted range to choose from. Osmo Top Oil or Fiddes hard wax oil – Tints are both superb products that come with a selection of tinted shades for you to choose from.

Is Briwax easy to apply?

Yes, Briwax polish is easy to apply if done correctly. If you are applying to bare untreated wood, simply apply the wax in thin coats, using a lint free cloth in the direction of the grain. Leave the wax to dry for around 5 minutes and buff up to a nice sheen. You can repeat this process several times to improve the sheen, colour and protection of your finish.

For an existing finish that you want to clean and restore or revive then try using a polish reviver first. The polish reviver is used to remove dirt, grime and will revive the existing polish. Once cleaned, this will make waxing your wood easier and will offer better results. Apply the Briwax wax polish using a lint free cloth in the direction of the grain in thin coats. Always buff up between coats and you can apply several thin layers to improve the sheen. Always test a small area first to ensure compatibility.
