Rustins Polyurethane Clear Varnish – 500ml – Satin or Gloss

Description

Rustins Polyurethane Clear Varnish is a high build, air-drying polyurethane. The finish produced is tough, durable and resistant to oil, water and many chemicals. Used on bare wood, hardboard, MDF and unsealed cork. For Interior use only. It is a High abrasion and mechanical impact resistance.

How to use Rustins Polyurethane Clear Varnish

1. The surface must be clean, smooth, sound, dry and free from wax, dust and contaminants.
2. Remove wax by rubbing with White Spirit and a plastic souring pad and wipe away whilst still wet.
3. Cracks may be filled with Wood filler or Rustins Grain filler.
4. A wood stain may be applied if necessary.
5. Stir well before use
6. Apply the Rustins Polyurethane Clear Varnish evenly, finishing in the direction of the grain using a good quality brush.
7. The first coat may be thinned with White Spirit (1 part to 8 parts varnish), to act as a sealer when applying to absorbent surfaces.
8. 2 coats are usually sufficient on wood.
9. Cork and more absorbent surfaces will require extra coats.
10. The drying Time is touch dry in approximately 2-4 hours, depending on the temperature and humidity.
11. Re-coat when the previous coat is hard dry, typically within 4-8 hours depending on the temperature and humidity.
12. The varnish will take about 24 hours to dry fully.
13. For maintenance the surface may be kept clean by wiping with a mild detergent solution when necessary.
14. To restore the gloss, a wax polish may be applied.
15. Worn areas may be re-coated once cleaned, de-waxed and lightly sanded to provide a key.

Please note
The application temperature is ideally 15-25°C. Do not use below 10°C or in conditions of high humidity.
Coverage is 14-16 sq m per litre, 1 coat, depending on the absorbency of the surface.
Store in original tin, tightly closed in cool, dry conditions.
Use White Spirit or Rustins Brush Cleaner whilst still wet to clean brushes. If dried on, clean equipment and brushes with Rustins Brush Restorer.
