What is the best way to use wood wax?

The best Wood Wax Finish will depend on what you are finishing and if the wood already has an existing finish or is bare wood. With most furniture it will already have an existing finish so you may need to clean this first. In most cases (especially with antique furniture) you can use Priory Polishes Polish Reviver to clean the surface. This will clean away old dirt and grime and add a sheen to the wood. You can then add a wax for wood furniture onto the surface to add protection. Only apply the wax in thin layers and buff up between coats to achieve best results. The more layers you add will result in a better finish. We find wood paste wax works best as you can get a better sheen and protection.

How do you wax wood floors?

If you have a previously waxed wood floor then we have a few options you can use. We have a large selection available in our Floor Wax category. To add to an existing waxed finish, we do offer Antiquax Original Liquid Wax Floor Polish. This is a silicone free liquid wax that is easy to apply and can add a nice sheen once dry. Liberon also offers a Floor Wax for wooden floors that nourishes reclaimed and old wood floors. This buffs easily to a mellow sheen. If you are looking for a hard wood floor wax for newly sanded floors, then I would recommend either Osmo Polyx Oil, Osmo Wood Wax Finish or Fiddes Hard Wax Oil.

Do you offer a wood aging wax?

Yes, we do have a couple of products that you can use. Liberon Black Patinating Wax is a good option to add a dark finish on wood. It is used for ageing wood, disguising and highlighting areas of decorative carvings. Mylands also offers a Dark Patinating Wax. This is a very dark brown carnauba wax for wood with a purple undertone, ideal for aging wood. It is often used on reproduction furniture to create an aged effect.

What is the best paste wax for wood?

We offer a wide selection of paste wood wax, all with their own qualities. For antique furniture, one of the best options is Priory Polishes Finishing Wax as this comes in two colours and works perfectly with Polish Reviver to create a beautiful sheen. Also, Renaissance wax is ideal for use on wood along with many other materials due to its unique properties. To create a sheen on bare untreated wood, Fiddes Supreme paste wax is very popular and comes in several different shades. Liberon also offers their own Black Bison Wax that comes in a paste form. They are all very easy to apply and use and are the perfect wax for wood.
