Osmo Natural Oil Wood Stain, Transparent colours are influenced by the natural colour of the wood and therefore they may deviate from the sample colours. Light transparent colour tones offer only limited UV protection; therefore they are not recommended for surfaces exposed to strong sunlight. Dried surface is at first satin-glossy and then satin. To extend the life of the coating, it is recommended to apply one final top coat of Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra 420 Clear after thoroughly drying (not recommended for White 900).

Many wood species contain water-soluble coloured extractives which may leach out naturally when weathered. All colour tones can be mixed with each other. Starting from 2.5 litres per colour tone, available in 186 RAL Classic and 1950 NCS colour tones. Transparent finishes allow the substrate to shine through. Depending on the wood species, the appearance of the colour tone may deviate from the original RAL/NCS colour tone. Osmo Natural Oil Woodstain is furnished with biocides and therefore it is only to be used in outdoor areas. The added active ingredients delay or minimize the risk of algae and fungal attack. For effective protection, two coats are to be carried out. In accordance with the latest technical research, permanent protection against algae and fungal attack cannot be provided.

Questions and Answers

Does Osmo Natural Oil Wood Stain red cedar have UV protection?

With Natural oil wood stain, the darker the tinted colour, the stronger the UV resistance the finish will have. This is because the pigments in the wood stain add to the UV protection. 728 Red Cedar is quite pigmented so it will offer good UV protection along with a breathable finish to help reduce the risk of swelling and shrinkage of your wood.  For additional UV resistance you can also apply a top coat of Osmo UV Protection Oil Clear after drying. This can be applied to all colours apart from the tinted shade ‘White’.

Is Natural Oil Wood Stain White Water Resistant?

Yes, the tinted shade White 900 is Water repellent and weather resistant. This means you can have an unusual white wash finish on your exterior wood that is a transparent colour so you can see the grain of the wood. This finish is water repellent, weather and UV resistant. It also contains special ingredients that slow the growth of mildew, algae and fungus. This is ideal when you are trying to achieve lighter shades on your timber.

What is the best Osmo Natural Oil Wood Stain on Pine?

Osmo oil-based natural transparent wood stain has the tinted colours designed to appear in harmony with the timber that you are treating. So for Pine, it is best to treat with the tinted colour Pine 700. This will improve the wood’s appearance and natural colour. If you are wanting to darken the wood then you can add a darker shade and the more coats of wood stain that you apply, will mean the darker the timber will look.
