What wood filler is best to use under a hard wax oil?

Osmo interior wood filler is probably the most popular wood filler that we sell for use under hard wax oil finishes. This is because it is very easy to use, with no hardener needed and it comes in a variety of colours to match your existing wood. This high performance wood filler is nontoxic, water based, fast drying, non-flammable and is resilient to cracking and shrinkage once fully cured.

Can wood filler be stained?

Most wood fillers can be stained but you need to check the instructions first. If it is a water-based wood filler, these are usually more suitable to mix stain to achieve a custom shade. It is always best to check what options are available first as most brands now will offer a variety of already tinted shades. For example, Osmo offers 9 different shades from white wood filler to grey wood filler.

Can wood filler be used outside?

There are not many options for exterior use but we are stockists of Brummer wood filler. This can be used inside or outside and offers some water resistance. This exterior wood filler comes in several shades from light to brown wood filler tones and once dry, can be painted over.

What is the best wood nail hole filler?

The easiest product to use is a wax filler stick to fill nail holes. It is very simple to use and most come in different shades that are intermixable. We offer Liberon Wax Filler sticks that have the largest variety of colours or repair king, that comes with a handy applicator kit. These are also often used in antique restoration to cover minor marks and scratches.

What wood filler can I use for floor board gaps?

Fiddes Filler gel is ideal to use wood filler between floorboards, prior to re-finishing. Whilst you are sanding your floor boards, you need to collect all the sanding dust and mix with Filler Gel to form a smooth paste. You can then fill the floor board gap and once dry, sand flat. As you are using the same sanding dust from the floor, it will create a complimentary filler to suit your floor. This works on most woods, especially Oak, Ash and Pine.
