- Simply rub over the Gold with the Polishing Cloth to remove the tarnish and fine scratches.
- This will leave a protective layer to help protect against future blemishes.
- As and when you need, simply polish your gold with the cloth to maintain and add a wonderful sheen.

Frequently asked questions
What is a Rouge Cloth?
A Rouge Cloth is 100% cotton cloth infused with micro-fined Jewellers Rouge and the finest polishing compounds. It is specially formulated to remove most tarnish on Gold and Gold-plate items. Much like our Jewellers Rouge Powder this gives a perfect tarnish removal and shine without scratching your precious metals.
Why do Gold Polishing Cloths turn black?
The Gold Polishing cloth is impregnated with professional Jewellers Rouge; a compound that cleans and removes tarnish. So when you rub your piece of jewellery with the gold polishing cloth, it removes the marks, dirt and grime whilst also penetrating a protective layer of polish onto the Gold. Therefore, what’s left on the Jewellers Rouge Cloth is a black mark, indicating that the polish has been used from that section of the cloth.
Can Gold Polishing Cloths be washed?
As the Jewellers Rouge Gold Polishing Cloth is impregnated, washing the cloth will remove the special polishing agents. The cleaning and polishing agents are infused into the materiel, so washing will remove the compounds and then the cloth will no longer work for this purpose as it is no longer impregnated.
What is the best Rouge Gold Polishing Cloth?
We recommend using our Jewellers Rouge Polishing Cloth for all types of Karat Gold, White Gold and Gold-Plated. We do offer cloths for other metals such as our Brass Cloth – for polishing Brass and household metals including Copper, Chrome and Stainless Steel. Our Silver Polishing Cloth is ideal for Silver & Silver-plated items, especially antique pieces.
Does the Polishing Cloth remove scratches?
Our Gold Polishing Cloths help remove tarnish, fingerprints, oils, dirt, minor scratches and dullness from Gold. Rouge is a Jewellers compound used to buff out and remove most fine scratches in the metal. The cloth will remove minor marks but for deeper scratches, we would recommend to use Rouge Powder as this is slightly more abrasive.
