How to Use Liberon Liming Wax

1. For the best results, Liberon Liming Wax should be applied to clean, dry bare wood with the grain properly opened.
2. Remove any existing wax, polish, varnish or other finish before liming. The surface can then be lightly sanded where required.
3. Use a Bronze Liming Brush to open the grain, working firmly in the direction of the wood grain. The more open the grain, the more pronounced the limed effect will be.
4. On softer woods such as pine, a wire brush or coarse abrasive paper can be used to score and open the timber.
5. If you want to create a stronger contrast, the wood can first be coloured with a suitable wood dye before applying the Liming Wax.
6. Apply Liberon Liming Wax using Ultra Fine Steel Wool Grade 0000 or a lint-free cotton cloth.
7. Work the white wax thoroughly into the open grain.
8. Wipe away excess wax with a clean cloth.
9. Buff first against the grain and then finish by buffing in the direction of the grain.
10. Allow the wax to dry for approximately 3–5 minutes.
11. Remove any remaining white haze with a clean cloth.
12. Finish with a clear wax for a nice smooth finish.
13. If a water-resistant finish is required, use Liberon Finishing Oil. The more coats of oil that are applied the greater the water resistance and the higher the shine.
14. Important: Always test a small area before use, to ensure you are happy with the results.
