Questions and Answers
Is Colron liming wax waterproof?
Although Colron Liming wax will offer some water resistance, it is not waterproof as it is only a paste wax. If you are looking for a water resistant finish with a white limed look, then you may want to consider a tinted hard wax oil instead. Osmo offers Polyx Oil tints 3040 White that is ideal for this. Fiddes hard wax oil white is also a very good option. Both of these hardwax oil finishes offer a water resistant finish so is more durable whereas the Colron liming wax will offer a more decorative look and feel, so more suited to furniture.
Can I make a lime wash effect with Colron refined liming wax?
Yes this paste wax is ideal to create a decorative limed wash effect, especially on woods like Oak. For best results to achieve this finish, you would need to open up the grain first using a liming brush. We do have a full tutorial with video on our article here. This shows you how to get that decorative limed effect with a step by step guide.
Can you use Colron liming wax natural on exterior wood?
No, this wax is not suitable for exterior use. If you are looking for a white wash effect on exterior wood, we do offer Osmo Natural Oil Wood Stain 900 white. This will offer a white wash look while still keeping the grain of the wood visible. We also offer Osmo UV Protection Oil White, again ideal for exterior use but on vertical structures.
