How to use Colron Danish Oil

  1. Colron Refined Danish Oil is suitable for use on previously oiled and bare wood.
  2. Previous coatings such as wax, polish or lacquer should be removed using Colron Wax Remover. Paint or varnish must be removed using a paint and varnish Stripper prior to application.
  3. Ensure all surfaces are clean and dry. Lightly sand and wipe with white spirit.
  4. Shake well prior to use.
  5. Pour a generous amount of Colron Danish Oil onto a clean, lint free cloth and wipe over the surface to be oiled. Rub the oil well into the grain of the wood.
  6. Alternatively, Colron Refined Danish Oil can be applied sparingly using a paint brush.
  7. If treating bare wood, apply 3 coats allowing 6 hours drying time between coats.
  8. When the final coat has dried, an improved sheen can be achieved by buffing with a clean, lint free cloth.

Questions and Answers

How long does Colron clear Danish oil take to dry?

In most cases it takes around 6 hours to dry but this will depend on your room temperature and humidity. If applying several coats leave at least 6 hours between coats but I would recommend longer to ensure this is fully dry. If you decide to use a colour like Colron medium oak Danish oil, then sometimes its best to leave for around 12 hours to dry to ensure this has fully soaked into your wood before re-application. Always wipe away any excess oil before you allow it to dry to ensure there are no streaks on the dried finish.

Can I use Colron Georgian medium oak Danish oil on Pine?

Yes, Colron refined danish oil georgian medium oak is perfectly fine to use on Pine timber. The word ‘Oak’ is just the colour and not the only timber it can be used on.
