Uses of the Bronze Liming Brush

The Bronze Liming Brush is ideal for:

• Opening the grain of hardwood before applying liming wax

How to Use the Bronze Liming Brush

1. Ensure the wood is clean, dry and free from any existing wax, polish, varnish or other finish.
2. Sand the surface where necessary to remove imperfections and prepare the bare wood.
3. Using the Bronze Liming Brush, work firmly in the direction of the wood grain.
4. Continue brushing until the grain has been sufficiently opened for the desired effect.
5. Remove any loose dust or debris before applying your chosen liming wax (Liberon Liming Wax is a good choice).
6. Apply the Liming Wax using Ultra Fine 0000 Steel Wool or a lint-free cloth, working the wax into the opened grain.
7. Remove excess wax and buff the surface to complete the limed finish.

Using the Brush for Liming Oak

Oak is particularly suitable for liming because its naturally open grain allows the white wax to settle into the pores of the timber. The more effectively the grain is opened, the more pronounced the resulting limed effect can be.

For the best results, use the Bronze Liming Brush before applying Liming Wax. Always work in the direction of the grain and test the complete process on an inconspicuous area before treating valuable or antique furniture.
