Made with natural ingredients blended with polymer, Polyvine Wood Oil provides a durable protective finish without creating a heavy surface coating. The blend of resins and oils produces a beautiful silky-sheen finish that enhances the natural appearance of the wood.

Polyvine Wood Oil is suitable for both softwood and hardwood timber and can be used on a wide range of interior and exterior wooden surfaces. It is also ultra-low in VOCs and contains no added solvents.

How to Use Polyvine Wood Oil

  1. New timber should be clean, non-oily and thoroughly dry.
  2. Remove all old coatings to bare wood. If the timber is not pressure treated apply an appropriate wood preservative.
  3. Stir thoroughly before use.
  4. For best results use a clean, lint free cloth or quality brush. Apply a thin even coat in the direction of the grain, work the oil into the grain of the wood ensuring complete saturation of the timber.

Suitable applications include:

  • Wooden furniture
  • Tables
  • Worktops

  • Staircases
  • Garden furniture
  • Fencing
  • Wooden gates

  • Other suitable interior and exterior timber

This Wood Oil is therefore suitable for everything from furniture restoration and woodworking projects to exterior garden and building timber.

Polyvine Wood Oil for Interior Wood

Polyvine Wood Oil is suitable for interior wood where you want to enhance the natural grain while providing protection against moisture and everyday use.

It can be used on suitable interior furniture, tables, worktops, doors, flooring, staircases and other wooden surfaces.

The clear oil penetrates into the timber and produces a silky sheen that highlights the natural grain rather than covering it with a thick coating.

For restoration projects, always ensure the timber is clean, dry and free from previous coatings, wax, polish, grease and other contamination before applying the oil.

Polyvine Wood Oil for Exterior Wood

Polyvine Wood Oil is also designed for exterior timber, providing protection against water and UV exposure.

It can be used on suitable exterior wood including fencing, gates, cladding, sheds, summer houses, pergolas, garden furniture and exterior doors.

Its microporous formulation allows the oil to penetrate into the timber while providing a waterproof finish and UV resistance.

For exterior applications, always make sure the timber is properly prepared and avoid applying the product when rain is imminent.

Polyvine Wood Oil for Furniture

Polyvine Wood Oil is suitable for wooden furniture and can be used to protect and enhance the natural appearance of timber.

The clear finish allows the colour and grain of the wood to remain visible while producing a beautiful silky sheen.

It can be used on suitable interior furniture such as tables, cabinets and other wooden pieces, as well as appropriate exterior wooden furniture.

For antique or valuable furniture, always test the product first on an inconspicuous area.

Polyvine Wood Oil for Oak

Polyvine Wood Oil can be used on oak and other suitable hardwoods.

Oak is a popular choice for furniture, doors, worktops and other interior and exterior timber, and a clear wood oil can help enhance the natural grain and character of the wood.

Because some hardwoods contain naturally occurring oils, always test the product first. Particularly oily timbers such as teak and Iroko can affect drying and penetration, so additional preparation may be required. Your existing instructions already highlight this point.

Polyvine Wood Oil for Worktops

Polyvine Wood Oil is suitable for wooden worktops where a penetrating oil finish is required.

The oil penetrates into the timber and helps provide a waterproof finish while maintaining the natural appearance of the wood.

Always ensure the worktop is properly prepared and completely free from previous finishes before application. We recommend testing on a small area first to check the appearance and suitability for your particular timber.

Polyvine Wood Oil and UV Protection

Polyvine Wood Oil contains UV resistance, helping to protect timber from the effects of sunlight.

UV exposure can cause exterior timber to weather and change colour over time. Polyvine Wood Oil provides UV-resistant protection while allowing the natural appearance of the wood to remain visible.

This makes it particularly useful for exterior applications such as doors, garden furniture, fencing, gates, cladding, sheds and other timber exposed to sunlight.

Wood Oil vs Wood Varnish

Polyvine Wood Oil and wood varnish protect timber in different ways. Polyvine Wood Oil is a penetrating wood oil. It soaks into the timber and enhances the natural grain while providing protection against moisture and UV exposure. A traditional wood varnish generally forms a protective film over the surface of the timber. Choose a Wood Oil when you want a natural-looking penetrating finish that highlights the wood grain. A varnish may be preferable when you specifically want a harder film-forming surface coating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Polyvine Wood Oil Waterproof?

The oil penetrates deeply into the timber to provide waterproofing and preservation rather than simply sitting as a conventional coating on the surface.
