Description
Metal Leaf by Annie Sloan is used for gilding surfaces and they come in two different variations. You can choose from Gold, Silver and Copper, to create beautiful decorative features on your painted furniture.
- We offer Loose Metal leaf booklets (25 sheets)
- Loose leaf is perfect for most gilding purposes but especially finer detailing like carved surfaces.
- We offer Transfer Metal leaf booklets (25 sheets)
- Transfer leaf is useful for gilding larger surface areas, such as walls or large flat surfaces on furniture. It is very lightly adhered to a tissue making it easy to apply in larger sections.
How to apply Metal leaf
- Apply a thin layer of Annie Sloan Gold Size to the surface that you are going to gild, using a brush.
- Allow to dry for 15 minutes, when the gold size becomes clear.
- On the transfer leaf, remove the backing sheet.
- Carefully apply the leaf with your hands into position.
- Smooth and remove any excess leaf with a brush or cloth.
- Apply a layer of Clear Chalk Paint Wax over your gilded surface to protect it from tarnishing.
- The book of 25 sheets will cover approximately 0.49 metres squared and each sheet measures 140mm x 140mm.
