Description

Liberon Wood Filler is a versatile water-based wood repair filler for filling holes, cracks, chips and other imperfections in wood and wood-based surfaces. It is suitable for both interior and exterior woodwork and is designed to provide a discreet repair without shrinkage or cracking.

Once dry, the filler can be sanded smooth and can be covered with wood dye, stain, paint, varnish or wax, making it suitable for furniture restoration, joinery, flooring and general wood repairs.

Uses of Liberon Wood Filler

Liberon Wood Filler is ideal for repairing and disguising common imperfections in timber, including:

• Nail holes and screw holes
• Small holes and cracks
• Chips and dents
• Surface imperfections
• Minor damage to wooden furniture
• Repairs to wood flooring
• Preparation of wood before staining, painting, waxing or varnishing

It can be used on a wide range of wood and wood derivatives and is suitable for both restoration projects and general DIY repairs.

Wood Filler Colours

Choose a shade that is closest to the colour of the timber being repaired. Liberon Wood Filler is available in several shades for colour matching, including:

• Neutral
• Mahogany
• Dark Oak

For the best result, choose the closest matching shade or, where appropriate, a slightly lighter colour. Always test the filler on a spare piece of timber or an inconspicuous area before starting the repair, particularly when the repaired area will subsequently be stained or dyed.

How to Use Liberon Wood Filler

Prepare the Wood

Make sure the area to be repaired is clean, dry and free from dust and loose material. If necessary, protect the surrounding area with masking tape.

Apply the Wood Filler

1. Choose the filler shade closest to the colour of the timber.
2. Apply the filler using a suitable filling knife or painter’s knife.
3. Press the filler firmly into the hole, crack or damaged area.
4. Smooth the surface with the filling knife, leaving a small amount of excess filler where necessary to allow for sanding.
5. For deeper holes or repairs, build up the filler in layers rather than applying one thick layer.
6. Allow the filler to dry thoroughly before sanding or applying another layer.

For best results, avoid applying the filler too thickly in a single application. Building deeper repairs in layers helps produce a flatter, more even repair.

Sanding & Finishing

Once the filler has dried, sand the repaired area smoothly. Sanding with 240 grit abrasive paper to achieve a smooth finish.

After sanding, remove all dust before applying the chosen finish. Liberon Wood Filler can subsequently be covered with a wood dye, stain, varnish, wax or paint.

When staining or dyeing, remember that the filler may accept colour differently from the surrounding timber. Always carry out a test first to check the final appearance.

Wood Filler or Wax Filler Sticks?

Liberon Wood Filler is best suited to repairs where the surface can be prepared and sanded before applying a new finish. It is particularly useful for holes, cracks and imperfections in bare or stripped wood.

For repairs to already finished furniture where you do not want to strip or sand the surrounding finish, Liberon Wax Filler Sticks can be a more suitable option. Please Note

Always test Liberon Wood Filler on a spare piece of timber or an inconspicuous area before beginning a project. The filler may accept stains and dyes differently from the surrounding wood, so testing is particularly important when colour matching is required.

For exterior repairs, the filled area should be protected with a suitable exterior-grade wood finish after the filler has dried and been sanded.

Do not apply below 10°C. Store frost-free and keep the container securely closed when not in use.

Health & Safety

Keep out of reach of children. The use of suitable protective gloves is recommended when applying the product. Avoid contact with the eyes and wash hands after use.

For prolonged or repeated contact, suitable protective gloves should be worn. Ensure adequate ventilation, particularly when working in confined areas.
