Osmo Country Shades Elements is a collection of 120 bespoke interior and exterior wood oil colours, inspired by nature. We offer an Exterior wood oil or interior wood wax finish all made using natural ingredients. These colours have been carefully selected by osmo experts and inspired by the elements of nature and all journeys of life as we experience them. Osmo Country shades has been created with a passion for nature and how it makes us feel. The colour choices can offer a positive impact on our personal spaces, our well being, and also offer a way to express ourselves with your own unique shade. The colours are inspired by Air, Earth, Water and Fire so we hope these colours will inspire you in your own journey.

This opaque satin wood finish will cover the wood and grain whilst the wood texture remains noticeable. The Micro-porous surface allows the wood to breathe, so reduces swelling and shrinkage. It creates a water-repellent, extremely weatherproof and UV stable surface that does not crack, peel, flake or blister. No sanding necessary, just simply re-coat; no primer is needed. It is easy and seamless application and the finish stays workable while coating. The dry finish is safe for humans, animals and plants (resistant to saliva and perspiration acc. German DIN 53160, suitable for children’s toys acc. EN 71.3). How to use Osmo Country Shades Exterior Wood Oil

  1. The wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 20%).
  2. Osmo Country Shades exterior wood oil is ready to use. Do not thin.
  3. Stir well before use.
  4. If possible, please apply the first coat to all sides before installation.
  5. Clean old micro-porous stains thoroughly. Old paints, varnishes and lacquers must be completely removed. Always wear dust mask while sanding.
  6. If additional protection against blue stain, rot and insects is desired, pre-treat the wood if possible on all sides with Osmo WR Base Coat.
  7. The finished surface and the product coverage are influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces.
  8. Apply with an Osmo Flat Brush and apply thinly and evenly to the clean and dry wood along the wood grain and spread well.
  9. Allow to dry for approx. 10-12 hours under good ventilation.
  10. After drying, apply a second coat – also thinly.
  11. When renovating, one coat applied to the clean and dry surface is usually sufficient.

How to use Osmo Country Shades Interior Wood Wax

  1. The wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (max. 18% moisture content).
  2. Osmo Country Shades Wood Wax Finish is ready to use. Do not thin
  3. Stir well before use.
  4. Clean old microporous stains thoroughly. Old paints and lacquers must be completely removed.
  5. Fill small cracks, larger joints or holes in wood with Osmo Wood Filler.
  6. Sand the wood surface carefully, begin with coarse sandpaper – final sanding work for flooring P120-150, for furniture P220-240.
  7. Remove sanding dust from the surface by sweeping or vacuuming.
  8. If possible, please apply the first coat to all sides before installation.
  9. The finished surface is influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces.
  10. Apply with an Osmo Flat Brush thinly to the clean and dry wood surface along the wood grain and spread well.
  11. For a more subtle stained effect, apply thinly with a lint-free cloth and within 20 minutes, wipe away cleanly and evenly.
  12. For maintenance, simply re-apply one coat onto the clean and dry surface when signs of wear become visible.

Please note that these wood oils custom mixed in house at Priory Polishes using our Osmo tinting machine. We mix the wood oil on site to your colour specification which means we can offer our fast delivery and a full array of colours not available in many other stores. As these wood oils are tinted to order they cannot be cancelled, are non-returnable and non-refundable.

Clean tools with Osmo Brush Cleaner (free of aromatic compounds).

Odour: faint/mild, odourless after drying Flashpoint: > 60 °C, acc. DIN EN ISO 2719

Storage: 5 years and longer if stored in the closed original can. If thickened by frost, store at room temperature for 24 hours prior to use.

Drying time: Approx. 12 hours (normal climatic conditions, 23 °C/ 50 % rel. humidity). Ventilate well while drying. Lower temperatures and/or higher air humidity may increase drying times. After 2-3 weeks, the surface is fully cured.

Coverage: Product coverage for 1 coat is 26 m²/1 l. It depends significantly on the character of the wood. All information refers to smooth and planed/cut surfaces. Other surfaces may lead to deviations in coverage.

Note: Osmo Country Shades exterior wood finishes are available in the colour of your choice. Many wood species contain water-soluble coloured extractives which may leach out naturally when weathered.

  • SEA DOG – W91 – This soft grey off-white with touch of blue is a gesture to the experienced sailor of the sea, good old Jack Tar. 
  • BEACH HUT – W92 – This pale blue-grey provides a good example of the unreliable British weather which plays an important role as to why beach huts are such an iconic part of the British seaside. Couple with a brightly coloured shade to truly set the scene. 
  • GLACIER – W93 – This icy blue shade aligns itself well to its namesake. Glacier ice is the largest reservoir of fresh water on the planet. 
  • DORY – W94 – A beautifully soft olive-yellow colouration which is derived from the true natural tones of the John Dory fish. 
  • BECKETT’S EYES – W95 – This invigorating shade of blue gives resemblance to gazing into the eyes of a special someone. Her eyes are so deep, like the ocean.

  • MÜNSTER GREY – W114 – A light grey-green is suggestive of the waters from the port of Münster in Germany, the home of Osmo. 
  • NEPTUNE’S TRIDENT – W115 – This light neutral golden sea green is named after the magical weapon of Poseidon, the mythical god of the sea.
  • NATURAL BAMBOO – W116 – The soft golden green has the character of natural bamboo and is featured for its many incredible environmental advantages, sustainable resources and even has health benefits when extracted as drinking water. 
  • CUCUMBER – W117 – A fresh and watery green to resemble the super nutritious and healthy fruit. Cucumber has the highest water content of any food, around 96%.
  • MISSISSIPPI GREEN – W118 – A deep green with scales of olive brown has been named after the green water snake found in the quiet waters of the cypress swamps of extreme Western Tennessee.

Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Warning! Hazardous respirable droplets may be formed when sprayed. Do not breathe spray or mist. Warning: Wash out any used cloth impregnated with this product immediately after use or store in an airtight container (danger of selfignition). The dried finish is classified as B2 (normal flammability) according to DIN 4102 regulations. Safety data sheet available on request.

Disposal: Dispose of leftover product and completely emptied packaging according to local official guidelines (waste code number 08 01 12). Only completely emptied cans can be recycled

Ingredients: Based on natural plant oils (sunflower oil, soybean oil and thistle oil), iron oxide and organic pigments, titanium dioxide white pigment, siccatives (drying agents) and water-repellent additives.
