Description
Osmo Anti-Slip Decking Oil (430) is a clear, satin top coat for treating wooden decking that has already treated with Tinted Osmo Decking Oil. It contains a special highly compressed organic non-slip additive, which is evenly distributed in the coating. This creates slightly textured feel that helps to reduce slips when dry. The microporous surface allows the wood to breathe and reduces swelling and shrinkage. It is an easy and seamless application and the finish stays workable while coating. The water-repellent natural oil based surface will not crack, peel, flake or blister. Osmo Anti Slip Decking Oil is furnished with active ingredients to protect the coating against mould, algae and fungal attack. Osmo Anti-Slip Decking Oil is especially suitable for all timber decking and stairs in outdoor areas made of e.g. Bangkirai, Massaranduba, Garapa, Larch, Douglas Fir or Pine. Suitable for ribbed, grooved and particularly for smooth decking surfaces.
How to use Osmo Anti-Slip Decking Oil
- Old paints and lacquers must be completely removed. As a general rule, wear a dust mask during sanding works.
- For renovation works, clean old microporous finishes thoroughly. De-grey and clean already greyed or weathered wood at the same time with Osmo Wood Reviver Power-Gel.
- If additional protection against blue stain, rot and insects is desired, pre-treat the wood if possible on all sides with Osmo WR Base Coat.
- The wood decking must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 20%).
- We recommend a base coat of coloured Tinted Osmo Decking Oil to be applied first.
- Osmo Anti-Slip Decking Oil acts as protection against weathering and extends the life of the coating.
- Osmo Anti Slip Decking Oil is ready to use. Do not thin and stir well before use.
- The finished surface is influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces.
- Apply using an Osmo Flat Brush, apply thinly along the wood grain and spread well. For quicker application on larger areas, we recommend our Osmo Decking Brush (150 mm) which is tailored for decking. It allows you to work ergonomically.
- Spread well and evenly.
- Allow to dry for approx. 12 hours under good ventilation.
- For renovation works, one coat applied to the clean and dry surface is usually sufficient.
Please note
Osmo Anti Slip Decking Oil is clear and therefore it offers only limited protection against UV radiation (greying). With a combination of a the coloured Decking Oil base coat and a top coat with Osmo Anti Slip Decking Oil, your decking is fully protected. Anti-Slip Decking Oil is not suitable for a single product application.
Oils enhance the natural colour tone of wood (permanent wet effect).
To avoid greying and declining non-slip effect on hightraffic areas, these areas should be recoated at the right time.
If the greying process has already begun, de-grey the surface with Osmo Wood Reviver Power-Gel and re-coat.
Many wood species contain water-soluble coloured extractives which may leach out naturally when weathered.
STORAGE – Up to 5 years and longer if can is kept dry and closed tightly. If thickened by frost, store 24-36 hours at room temperature before use.

DRYING TIME – Approx. 12 hours (normal climatic conditions, 23 °C/50 % rel. humidity). Lower temperatures and/or higher air humidity can increase the drying time. Ventilate well while drying.
