Description

Rustins Quick Dry Worktop Oil is a unique water-borne blend of natural plant oils and other special ingredients to nourish and protect all types of timber. The plant oils originate from sustainable sources and are used largely to replace crude oil derived components used in synthetic resins. Worktop Oil is intended for use for all kind of interior hardwood and kitchen worktops. It is penetrating oil that dries to a hard durable and water resistant seal. It adds warmth and depth to all woods, including oak, beech, teak, mahogany and veneered surfaces. It does not leave a surface film to scratch or chip. It conforms to Plastic materials and Articles in contact with Food (England) Regulations 2008.

How to use Rustins Quick Dry Worktop Oil

  1. The surface must be clean, smooth, dry and free from wax, dust and contaminants.
  2. Remove wax by scrubbing with White Spirit or Rustin’s Surface Cleaner and a scouring pad, then wipe away whilst still wet with clean rags. Existing oil should be removed with Rustins Strypit Paint and Varnish Stripper.
  3. Bare wood may be stained before coating
  4. Shake well before use. Apply liberally with a clean rag or brush and wipe off the surplus oil after a few minutes.
  5. The first coat should be applied liberally with a brush and allowed to dry without wiping.
  6. Nibs may be removed from the final coat by applying the oil with a scouring pad, rubbing in the direction of the grain, then wiping away the surplus with clean rags or paper kitchen towels.
  7. Some wood may need sanding between two coats.
  8. Bare wood usually requires 3 coats.
  9. Drying Time usually takes around 2-3 hours depending on temperature and humidity.
  10. Re-coat once the previous coat is dry.

Can I use this on kitchen laminate worktops?

No, this worktop oil is only designed to be applied onto bare solid wood. If applied to laminate, this will not penetrate correctly and may damage the surface. We do offer Liberon Laminate Reviver, if you are just looking to revive your laminate surface.
