Description

Mirka Abranet Ace 150mm Sanding Discs are high-performance net sanding discs developed for tougher and more demanding sanding applications. They feature ceramic abrasive grain and an optimised net construction, providing a fast cut and excellent durability when sanding a wide range of materials.

Abranet Ace is particularly well suited to hardwoods such as oak and beech, as well as primer sanding and various solid surface materials. The open net construction also allows effective dust extraction when used with a suitable sanding machine and extraction system.

These 150mm Mirka sanding discs are available in a range of grits from P80 to P320 and in packs of 5, 10 or 50 discs on this listing.

Available Grits

Choose the sanding grit according to the amount of material you need to remove and the finish required:

  • P150 – medium sanding and surface preparation
  • P180 – finer preparation

Dust-Free Sanding

One of the key advantages of Mirka Abranet Ace is its net construction. When connected to a suitable dust extraction system, sanding dust can be drawn through the abrasive rather than collecting on the surface of a conventional solid-backed sanding disc.

This can help keep the work area cleaner, improve visibility of the surface being sanded and provide a more efficient sanding process. For best results, use Abranet Ace with a compatible Mirka sanding machine and suitable extraction system.

Wood & Furniture Sanding

Mirka Abranet Ace 150mm discs are particularly useful for woodworking, furniture restoration and preparation of wooden surfaces. The ceramic abrasive provides a strong cutting action for hardwoods while the range of available grits allows you to progress from heavier preparation to finer finishing.

Use the appropriate grit to remove old finishes, level repaired areas, smooth timber and prepare the surface before applying wood stain, oil, wax, varnish, French polish or paint.

When sanding antique furniture, veneers or delicate surfaces, take care not to remove excessive material. Use light, controlled pressure and avoid keeping the sanding machine stationary in one area.

Paint & Primer Sanding

Abranet Ace is also suitable for paint sanding, primer sanding and preparation before applying further coatings. The ceramic abrasive provides fast cutting performance, while the net construction makes the discs well suited to use with dust extraction.

For heavier removal, start with an appropriate coarse grit and move progressively to finer grades as the surface becomes smoother. Always ensure that the existing coating is suitable for mechanical sanding and follow appropriate precautions when working with old paint.

How to Use Mirka Abranet Ace 150mm Sanding Discs

  1. Select the appropriate grit for the material and sanding application.
  2. Make sure the sanding machine is switched off before fitting the abrasive.
  3. Attach the 150mm Abranet Ace disc securely to the compatible backing pad using the grip fastening.
  4. Connect the sanding machine to a suitable dust extraction system where available.
  5. Start the machine before bringing it into contact with the surface.
  6. Use controlled movements and allow the abrasive to do the cutting rather than applying excessive pressure.
  7. Check the surface regularly as you work.
  8. Replace the disc when the abrasive becomes worn or sanding performance is reduced.

Choosing the Right Grit

P80 is suitable for more aggressive sanding and material removal, while P120 to P180 are useful for general surface preparation and smoothing. P240 and P320 are better suited to finer preparation before applying a finish.

When restoring furniture or working with veneers, begin with a finer grit where possible. A coarse abrasive can remove material quickly, so use only as much cutting action as the job requires.

Please Note

These are 150mm Mirka Abranet Ace Grip sanding discs. Check that your sanding machine uses a compatible 150mm backing pad before ordering.

For the best dust extraction performance, use the discs with a compatible sanding machine and suitable extraction system. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your sanding equipment and wear appropriate eye, respiratory and hearing protection when sanding.
