Description
Mylands Light Fast Stain has been formulated with selected spirit solvents and light-fast dyes to provide wood stains which are both light-fast and non-grain raising. These wood stains may be intermixed to give specific shades required. Mylands Light Fast Stain may be used on wood flooring or furniture and can be used under Mylac Lacquer.
We offer the following shades – Light Oak, Medium Oak, Dark Oak, Antique Mahogany, Walnut, Black, Antique Pine and Teak.
How to use Mylands Light Fast Stain
- The timber should be evenly sanded with a minimum of 180 grit paper prior to staining to ensure the stain applies and dries without patchiness.
- Mylands Light Fast Stain may also be used on flooring, but due to fast drying time, need to be used quickly – ensuring a wet edge is maintained to avoid patchiness.
- It is important that clean, white, lint-free cloth is used for application and wiping as colour could be leached out of coloured cloth by the solvents in the stain and affect the final colour.
- Use a clean, soft, white lint-free cloth and apply evenly to wet the whole surface being stained before wiping off the surplus stain with a clean lint-free cloth.
Please note
COVERAGE – On average 10 m2 per litre dependant on substrate porosity and method of application.
DRYING TIME – Less than 10-15 minutes at 20°C before overcoating.
THINNING – If it is thought necessary to weaken these stains, use Light Fast Thinners or Methylated Spirit.
The stains may be used up to a level of 20% to tint nitrocellulose, precatalysed and acid catalysed lacquers, but not polyurethane or waterborne lacquers.
